Huck Finn Park

In Fall of 2022 we constructed the highest paved pumptrack in the world with the help of Velosolutions, Progressive Bike Ramps, Lake County, Great Outdoors Colorado, Flowride Concepts, Pedal for the Park riders and donators and A LOT of great volunteers.

The Story.

The Cloud City Wheelers constructed the first public pump track in Colorado on Lake County owned land in 2007. Since then many young rippers and shredders have gained a new love for the lifelong sport that cycling is. In 2014 the community advocated for a new skate park and successfully constructed one of Colorado's best skateparks. This skatepark park is well used by the community and plenty of visitors but lacks the ability for younger and novices to progress their skills.

The new Huck Finn Park complements the current skate park and build upon the area as a whole. The new Huck Finn Park is centered around a paved pump track. This pump track invites users of all types to participate in gaining and keeping momentum under their own power by utilizing the berms, turns, and rollers to generate speed. Being an inclusive paved pump track allows skateboarders, scooters, rollerblades, roller skates, and bikes to be part of the fun!

Surrounding the pump track are progressive jumps and skill features catering to bicycles. These are similar features that we are finding illegally built in the woods around Leadville that will be built in a sustainable way and maintained by the Wheelers.

Since 2019 the Wheelers have raised over $100,000 cash through the annual Pedal for the Park bike-a-thon event along with individual donations. In 2022 Lake County was awarded a GOCO grant for $154,000 to help complete the park. During the summer of 2024 the park was completed with the addition of the beautiful shade structure designed by local architect firm Shape Architects and built but local construction company Downstream Construction.
